Services can be
undertaken on-site as a contractor if your location is within
commutable distance of north Leicestershire, or at Sci~T with regular client
visits as required by the project.
Custom
Software Development or bespoke components
for existing
applications - for the complete development life-cycle or just part:
Analyse requirements;
create
functional specification & documentation; iterative design and
development; testing;
deployment
and support.
Algorithm Design & Development Previous examples
include neural networks for forecasting; nonlinear programming
(optimisation of a nonlinear system using mathematics) applied to
minimising leakage in a network; bespoke algorithms for helicopter
surveillance software;
Graphical
User Interfaces (GUI). A
modern GUI experience can be applied to tried and trusted legacy
systems by developing a separate layer or 'wrapper' that leaves the
core of the proven underlying system untouched.
Database
Applications.
A large number of client systems are
data-centric. Microsoft Access provides a cost effective
development environment for bespoke data-based applications with easy
reporting and connectivity to Microsoft Office applications.
Alternatively, Microsoft
SQL Server provides a more 'heavyweight' database solution that enables
internet or intranet deployment. Projects include: HSE Inspection form
database with
management reporting; Questionnaire database with configurable
reporting; Appliance testing databases
Prototype Software. Microsoft Access with VBA is
also a popular environments for the rapid development of prototype or
demo software.
Simulation
and Modelling. The process of creating mathematical models
of a physical
system and encoding them within a computer program, to predict or
simulate their behaviour.
Reverse engineer Legacy
Code. Many technical, engineering and/or scientific
applications contain custom modules or engines that were originally
designed and coded many years or even decades ago. Limited
documentation is available and the in-house expertise no longer exists.
Sci~T uses the source code to reverse engineer back to the analysis
phase. New functionality is implemented from this stage and/or the
application migrated to modern operating systems, development
environments and languages.
Decision Support Tools
and Business Modelling with System
Dynamics. Model, Understand and Communicate complex business processes
through
the use of System Dynamics modelling. Create Decision Support Tools or
Management 'Flight Simulators' that allow the consequences, and the
sensitivities, of different decisions to be judged and strategies
designed for
greater success.
